NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a positive note on Monday.
Shares of Alkem Laboratories Ltd.(up 5.0 per cent), Zydus Lifesciences Ltd.(up 2.35 per cent), Lupin Ltd.(up 1.51 per cent), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.(up 1.2 per cent) and Aurobindo Pharma Ltd.(up 1.01 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.
On the other hand, J B Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.(down 1.94 per cent), Laurus Labs Ltd.(down 1.83 per cent), Natco Pharma Ltd.(down 1.75 per cent), Biocon Ltd.(down 1.51 per cent) and Abbott India Ltd.(down 1.43 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.
The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.37 per cent up at 19203.3.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 33.15 points at 22442.7, while the BSE Sensex stood up 17.39 points at 73895.54.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 24 ended in the green, while 26 closed in the red.
Shares of Vodafone Idea, YES Bank, NHPC, PNB and REC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
Shares of GRP Ltd, Ganges Securities, Dolat Invst, Sarla Perform and Wealth First Port hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while MPS Infotecnics, SITI Networks, Signpost India, Future Supply Chain and Zee Ent. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
